	Habitat for Humanity Dedicates Clancy–First Thrivent Build Home Dubuque/Jackson Counties Habitat for Humanity held a dedication recently of the home they have built at White Street, as part of their ongoing mission to reduce poverty housing in Dubuque and Jackson Counties Friends, relatives, volunteers and Habitat for Humanity sponsors joined Rose Clancy and her children to celebrate the dedication of their new home. “Early on we decide we should have a colorful home!” said Rose, the new home owner, during the Ribbon cutting as her kids gave her a hand. Clancy has been working along with volunteers and Habitat for Humanity members on every part of her new home. “We require our homeowners to be a full partner in the process, which includes participating in budget and homeowner classes as well as investing hours of labor -sweat equity- in their home and the homes of others.” said Eric Veltstra, Habitat’s executive director. After the ceremony guests had the opportunity to tour the home and visit with other Habitat volunteers and Thrivent board and staff members. Habitat launches Awareness Campaign Dubuque/Jackson Counties Habitat for Humanity has launched a yearlong awareness campaign addressing poverty housing and how it relates to the people around us. Habitat would like to extent a heartfelt thank you to Dubuque Racing Association and the Mystique Casino for their generous support of our efforts to raise awareness for poverty housing and Habitat’s mission to eliminate it.
